It's been real quiet on the Upscene front as of late as we've been in the bunkers developing our new drops. Quiet before the storm if you will, samples have started rolling off the delivery trucks into our hands. We can't wait for everyone to see what we have in store this spring/summer. Check out this mini peep of our newest snapbacks we've developed for all our vets who's been putting in work.

HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA (REVIEW)

Just finished checking out the first episode of How to Make it in America, and I gotta say it's actually pretty good. Being built as the "New York Entourage" might be some ginormous shoes to fill but it really does a great job of contrasting the actual "making it" in Hollywood to the "trying to make it" feel that is New York City. The main character Ben seems to be at a crossroads in his life, his success thus far have been through his past achievements in "making dope shirts" and his ability to get into the cities best parties. His girl friend Rachel left him a little while back for some rich d-bag and he's stuck folding jeans for "the man" at Barney's. He's a breath away from quiting and falling in line, when his friend Cam saves him from a miserable conforming death. Sounds like at least 5 of my friends if you switch around the sitch here and there. Being a native NYer its seems as they capture the essence of party hard, love hard, work hard all along with a coming to age story. HTMA is the journey while Entourage is the destination, and they always say getting there is half the fun. First episode is a go....we'll see how the rest come along. Really breaks my heart to see what's going on down there. However this sort of thing has been going on for years in many 3rd world countries across the world. It always takes tragedy to strike first before we take notice, that's just human nature. Makes you really put in prospective the daily gripes we deal with, how we handle them and also the appreciation we have for our blessings. Our thoughts and prayers are with those dealing with this plight, both in Haiti and on US soil.

Please if you decide to donate to the cause, do your research on your organization. Make sure your honest assistance is received by honest people. Throwing money or clothing into a black hole may or may not reach the people who really need it. I know many people are making the right choice. That's all we can ask for.

PEPSI X GOURMET SPECIAL EDITION UNO SNEAKERS

I've been cutting my teeth with the guys at Team Epiphany (www.epiphanymediallc) learning many things and participating in a couple of projects. One of the latest is an collaboration with All American cola brand Pepsi and the sneaker brand Gourmet. The Gourmet UNO with it's canvas material comes with 3 different color laces (Pepsi colors of course), along with the Gourmet and Pepsi name on the tongue. This limited release was sent to key influencers all across the world, which made it extra dope that I was able to score a size 12 for myself.

Was recently in Vegas rocking these bad boys with my Pepsi New Era fitted. All eyes were on my feet walking down the strip. Went perfect with the Dirty Bomber Jersey Tee.

UPSCENENYC.COM IS IN DEVELOPMENT STAGES

Currently we're going through a major overhaul bring to life (finally) upscenenyc.com. There you will get more of a feel of the brand, and an overall better ascetics then what we were able to offer over at Upscenities! Our online shop will be up where you can purchase some of our older gear as well as our upcoming S/S 10' drops. Fans of Upscenities! shouldn't worry as the blog will still be up and will be accessible through the site or Upscenities itself.

We didn't get an opportunity to do the whole end of 09'/ beginning of 10' blah blah blah that everyone else were doing. Our bad, but on the real we like to thank everyone who's be ultra supportive of Upscene from the end of 08' when we start to now. Our brand is evolving and if it wasn't for the strong sense of community, none of this would be possible. We're excited for this upcoming season as we step it up another notch. Be on the look out for that, it's really going to show some growth.

Here's the teaser trailer for a new HBO series called How to Make it in America. Kid Cudi stars with Mark Wahlburg executive producing (he is Vincent Chase, Entourage is loosely based on his life). The show premise is young 20 something year olds trying to make it in New York (America) and the subcultures they meet along the way. Think entourage on the east coast, which sounds like a good look. Many people are inspiring somethings in the city, sure many people can relate. Check it out on HBO February 14th.

Music sets the theme for everything else creative, the music you choose to listen to dictates moods, expressions, actions and motivation. We've been linking up with the artist Cause for sometime now collaborating on several events in New York City. If you've ever been lucky enough to listen to the young man rhyme, it's quite obvious he does his handle justice as he truly does rhyme with a cause. The principals that Upscene is based upon is embedded in many of his lyrical scriptures and the concert celebrating his album release I AM US was no different. Taking place at the legendary Webster Hall where many of musics greats have blessed the stage, he did not disappoint as he solidified his position as an artist to watch in 2010. Going through some great songs like "In a Daze", "Birth of a Rebel" and the title track "I Am Us" he wowed the crowd with his command of the stage. Us on the other hand, we enjoyed the atmosphere, sipped on some back stage PBRs and just enjoy a great hip hop event.

Big Ups! to DJ ILLY P, DJ Fat Fingers, Deadstock Ric, DJ Schoolboy, Prophet, Shanelle G and everyone else who made the event possible.
